HELLO! DO YOU GUYS USE LAND O LAKES BUTTER?
I FOUND IT AT WALMART FOR 2.98 FOR 4 STICKS. I THOUGHT THAT WAS PRETTY GOOD CONSIDERING AT THE STORE IT WAS 4.99!!
Yes I use it all the time. I buy my Land O Lakes from Super Walmart for $2.82 (4 sticks). I think you got a great deal as well considering the price at grocery stores. I make sure I stack up on this butter every time I go to Super Walmart.
Yes, I also use the Land o'Lakes butter. I used to use margarine, but it always left the yellow color in my frosting. But with LOL you get hardly any color change at all. And my BC tastes much "cleaner", if you can get what I mean. There is just a better taste overall with LOL, in my opinion.

I've tried Land O Lakes, Cub Brand and an off Brand at ALDI's. I think they are all great. And there is not as much of a color change as with margarine.
Some things are just better with butter.
are you guys talking about using butter for your bci, instead of crisco? so far I've only used crisco, b/c I was worried about it turning out more yellow that white. But what you're saying is that for your bc, LOL butter works well?
I don't know about anyone else, but i use half butter and half crisco. Gives a nice texture, mellow taste and cleans up a lot easier.
I use nothing but Land O' Lakes!! I highly recommend it!! It doesn't leave a yellow color in your icing either~
Sweetieshell, I use a half butter half crisco recipe. It works and tastes great. Butter is a marvelous thing.
I too use 1/2 BUTTER (now) and 1/2 crisco.... it does taste better, and look "cleaner" and decorates nicely... are there any of brands of butter??? if so I have never seen it...well I guess I just fibbed because I have seen store brand butter... anyway, if so what other brand names???
I've never tried the butter in a recipe of my icing... does it hold up well? I mean like holding its shape and not falling or melting. I live in Louisiana. We have heat here! Even though I do make sure and keep my cakes cool in the summer months.
FYI - if any of you belong to Costco....I use their branded butter and it is very light in color and with Costco prices you get it for about $3/lb (per 4 sticks)....however you do have to buy 4 lbs at a time <grin>
And you all know that butter freezes beautifully, don't you? So if you have the freezer space, STOCK up next time you hit a sale (I once came home with 16 lbs of butter <grin>
you all are probably going to scream but, i have never used butter in my icing...well, just this once when i was making my girlfriend's cake. that stuff is expensive here compared to the imitation butters.
Don't worry - I never use butter either - I just add a tsp of butter flavoring. Butter, for me, leaves a little bit of greasy feeling in your mouth?? Maybe its just the recipe I used but I never used it again. My crisco recipe is very light and fluffy on its own. I guess I'll try 1/2 butter someday but it would be more expinsive by far than Crisco bought in bulk.
