Gelatin To Keep Tops From Cracking?

I was just talking with a friend, and she told me about a list of cake tips she had been reading... mostly the same old stuff, but then she told me it says that to keep the top of a cake from cracking while it's cooling, you should add 1 envelope of unflavored gelatin to the dry ingredients... has anyone ever heard of this before???
