Ok, I know, thats a very bold statement, but I really think it is the best recipe I have found for chocolate cake! I have also included the recipe for chocolate plastic, which tastes awesome, kinda like a gourmet tootsie roll! I made the pictured cake with this recipe and the roses were made with chocolate plastic!! This is a request from a some of our members, but I had to share the cake recipe with everybody, because it is so good!!

Chocolate plastic- 1 pound semi sweet chocolate
2/3 cup light corn syrup
Melt the chocolate in a double boiler, once chocolate has completely melted, stir in corn syrup. Allow paste to cool and harden.

Knead paste and pat fat off with paper towels. Once completely harden, you can sculpt roses as you would with fondant!!

Cake recipe

3 ounces unsweetened chocolate squares
1/2 cup water
3/4 butter
2 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup water

Melt chocolate and 1/2 cup water together and set aside to cool

Cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla extract to butter mixture and beat well. Blend in cooled chocolate.

Mix together flour and baking soda and add alternatly with 1 cup water on low speed. Pour batter into two 9 inch greased layer pans or one 9x13 sheet pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or until wooden toothpick comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes before removing from pan.

Lemme know if I left anything thing out!!!

I used luster dust to tint the roses, once they hard hardened a bit!

Yep, its ganache! I love working with it, because its relatively easy to make and it means you dont have to frost the cake!!!!
