I'm making a half sheet cake for my nephew's baby shower this weekend. Last night, his mother called and said she wasn't sure if the half sheet would be enough for the amount of people she has coming now. She wanted to know if she should pick up some extra desserts as filler, just in case. I told her I could make extra cupcakes, as I have all the suplies in the house, AND the Wilton cupcake stand to display on.

I'm making the cake with FBCT of Pooh and Piglet on clouds, against a very pale blue background. I was thinking of doing the cupcakes with the same pale blue (to tie in with the cake) and placing a little buttercream bumblebee on each. How does this sound to you? Does anyone have a cute pic of an easy bee to pipe? I was thinking of making these today on waxed paper sheets and freezing them, then placing on the cupcakes on Sunday.

Does anyone have a better idea? Thanks for any help you can give me. icon_smile.gif

I have a really cute idea for bumble bees.........don't know how you'll feel about this but they're so much fun.....get tootsie rolls and yellow gumdrops and you cut the tootsie rolls in quarters, then take the yellow gumdrop and cut it in half....sandwich the quarter tootsie roll between the two halves of the gumdrop with the sticky sides of the gumdrop against the tootsie roll.....then you'll end up with a cute little yellow and black (dark brown) bumble bee body, then just stick two little pieces of sliced almonds into the bee for wings and you can attatch them to spaghetti to make them look like they're flying above the cupcakes or just simply set them on the cupcakes!!! They're really cute and a different idea, and you don't have to worry about piping faces or anything on the bees....and the bees have that "pill" shape just like the Winnie the Pooh bees have, and you can make tons of them in advance and they keep really well in a sealed container at room temp. and you could tie them in by putting a few on the cake too!!

Good Luck, my best friend loves bumble bees and I made her little bee hive cupcakes with bumblebees sticking out...she LOVED them........I used hostess cupcakes then I stuck one of those chocolate marshmallow cookies to the top, it kinda has a dome on the cookie and swirled yellow icing around the entire thing....so the cupcake looked just like a bee hive....it's lots of frosting, but it would be a cute idea for your shower to....maybe even just do a couple beehives...I think it would be adorable with a Pooh cake
