Anyone know of a frosting recipe that I can make that will be similar to the bakery whipped frosting. I am making an army tank cake so I need one that can be used on that. I just can't stand the buttercream because it is so sicky sweet.

OK, should I use the Whimsical Bake House Buttercream, Richs Special Buttercream Frosting or the Whipped Cream Buttercream Frosting from the recipe section...............help please. I would like the one closest to bakery style....not too sweet though the cake is banana flavored.

I've used Rich's, very light, not sweet at all. My new favorite is the Whimsical Bakehouse buttercream. It has ALOT of high ratio shortening AND butter in it in comparison to the sugar, but I am SOLD on this icing. Some people have mentioned it's too greasy or waxy feeling in the mouth, but I don't have that problem with it. It has just the right amount of sweetness for me. Everyone I've had try it, loved it, with the exception of my DH. He is hooked on the super sugary sweet crusting buttercreams I have used in the past.

Hope this helps. icon_smile.gif
