Have a bride that may be interested in a Groom's Cake as well as Wedding Cake. Do you normally charge the same as wedding cakes for Groom's cake??
Thanks,
Christine
Anyone?? I'm doing the tasting tomorrow evening and will discuss prices & contracts w/her then!!!
I personally handle them like I would a birthday cake, since most of them are 3-D shaped cakes.........and add extra for anything time consuming or difficult like figures molded out of fondant, gumpaste, etc.
I'm thinking she may want one of the all chocolate groom's cakes. 2-tiers (size yet to be determined), Chocolate cake, chocolate filling, chocolate icing, w/the chocolate drizzle around the top and edges, then some chocolate covered strawberries. So nothing to difficult, but I wasn't sure if I should just to quote my wedding cake servings price or go w/the bday cake price. If she decides to go w/the groom cake she is going to reduce the number of servings for the wedding cake.

I qoute the base price for the groom's cake the same as the bridal cake. I actually go by layers. A two layer cake with filling is the same price no matter what you call it. There may be an additional charge if it uses a lot of real chocolate, but the base price is the same. I've done those basic all chocolate groom's cakes. There isn't any difficult decorating to do, but do charge extra for the strawberries. No less than $1 each.
