Ok here I go please dont laugh!!!!!!!! as I am LOL!!!! In my gallery is a green gingerbread (dont you want to be my neighbor)
ugly, ugly, ugly
are you insane??? ... I would never photograph the bad cakes ...like someone on this site said ... I eat the evidence!!! lol
cakebybek: I went to look at your gingerbread cake & saw the frog! I love him!! He is sooo adorable...now, I just need a reason to make a frog cake
Come on guys, I know we have worse cakes than this!! I'm still searching, I made a cake that was on Wilton's website...its the baby poking its head out of a package - when my husband came downstairs it freaked him out I know I have it saved somewhere.....
sofiasmami: if I ate all my ugly cakes, then I would gain 100 lbs
I just think this is so much fun...its good for us to laugh at ourselves every once in a while. Plus, I think it helps people that are new realize that everyone has bad cakes now & then, but thats part of the process.
Nati, that ball looks pretty good. Okay, so a little deflated...you should have quickly made a 3-D fondant air pump to go with it and you would have been good to go! (I've never even done a sports ball pan so no tellin' what would happen if I tried.)

That is such a great idea!! It surely would have saved the day if i had thought of it
Nati
You guys just made my day!!
Here's my worst cake ever, and my first cake ever!
http://www.cakecentral.com/cake-decorating-ftopict-17779.html
This cake gave me so much trouble.. The pic I had to go by.. Nelly (R&B artist) was wearing a hoody.. When I finished the cake here as you can see with MMF as the hoody.. All the kids laughed.. They said he looked like an eskimo.. I was like" man that really sucks".. So the next morning I could not stand it. I peeled off all the MMF and just did it in Buttercream.. OMG it looked like he had a huge grey blanket around his head.. Never again will I attempt a 3d look!!!!
Gosh, Isaacsmom, I really want to help you out on those petit fours. LOL Did you freeze your cake well with the buttercream already on it before cutting and pouring the fondant? (I like to freeze mine for at least overnight! Just wrap it really good and it should be fine. Oh, and using waxed paper pressed on the buttercream top before wrapping in the saran wrap helps to get the buttercream nice and smooth. Those two things make a world of difference for me anyway. Oh, and when I cut my cake into pieces, I use a sharp (not serrated) knife wiped clean after each cut by dipping in hot water and drying with paper towel. Keeps them nice and neat. I think it would be near impossible for me to pour fondant on a cake that wasn't frozen or at least nice and chilled. Too many crumbs!
I did this cake at Xmas. Having just watched Food Network's Gingerbread Challenge, I had all these pictures in my mind of how I wanted it to look. Of course, it didn't come out anything like those on TV! Even my 4-year-old granddaughter asked her mommy why those green little men in Santa's House (at least she could tell it was supposed to be that!) were trying to kill Santa! Then she cried and said it scared her! I actually have another "worst" cake which was my Wilton's Class Present Cake....now that was hideous but the picture is at home (I'm actually at work, working very hard)
OMG this is HILARIOUS!!!!
First let me say ...I'm THRILLED to see Antonia had bad cakes too once!!!!

Stephanie: I don't think you read the rules...we said worst cake!!! Just giving you a hard time, but seriously I like that one.
Twinsline: I think Teddy's more comfortable in his other thread...he's had his 15 minutes of fame Now show these guys how its done & find an UGLY cake
I posted mine already too!! I must have also been sleeping! haha it's the absolutely horrible buttercream one with the big ugly pink bow in my photo gallery!!! I HATE IT!! It was one of the first cakes I made! ahhhhh I actually pm'd Jackie to see if I could remove it but haven't heard!! Please Jackie if you see this can you get rid of it!!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE haha
jdogga: You are so funny & don't you dare remove that cake!! Seriously, that is one of the nicest bows I've seen. I only wish I could make one like that. Oh, by the way your brown & pink cake with the bow is beautiful!!
Jackie if your reading please disregard jodogga's request..thank you
Okay, this is a great thread!
So the story behind this cake, I made this 3 years ago before I had any knowledge of cake decorating. Had no idea how to level or make an icing that would actually spread. Didn't have a spatula for icing, actually iced it with a rubber scraper spatula. The icing was too thin and I had no decorating bags or tips so no real borders. The writing on top was done with those already made tube icings you get at the grocery store.
The conselation is that the cake tasted amazing! Strawberry cake with strawberry cream cheese frosting! It was for my hubby for valentines day! I have always been a baker, but I have not always been a decorator!
Gosh, some of your worst cakes look better than my best cake!
The worst cake I ever did was my sisters wedding cake two years ago. She was getting married for the second time to a man with the last name Shrek. So she wanted a wedding topper with the Shrek character. I did a wonderful job making the topper, but then came the cake. I didn't realize when you made a wedding cake you had to make two layers for each cake. So it was so horrible looking that everytime someone asked her who made her wedding cake at the reception, she would look at me and I would shake my head at her and give her an evil eye. She wouldn't tell them it was me. She just kind of changed the topic.
Told her she better make this marriage last, because I would never do another wedding cake again.
I was so ashamed of it, I wouldn't even take a picture of it. I will see if she happens to have one that maybe I can post, and you all can fall out of your chairs laughing at.
On the bright side though, I did the grooms cake and it looked fairly decent.
Peggy
This is fun!
Here are a few that I just can't stand:
The "Grandma" one I did when I was about 12...and it had jelly beans on the side! Oh heavens! I just don't like the top either.
The "Angela" one was one of the first I did after my 7 year hiatus...and I just think it's so ugly! I have a hard time with the heart shape and I hate the way this one turned out! By the way, my name is Angela, but this was for my sister in law, not me.
I have some real doozies, but I think I decided not to scan those . I started baking at about 7 or 8, so the cakes between then and 12 when I learned to decorate....hmmm...wouldn't be in a hall of fame anywhere!
Angela
ok ok soooooo.........you want to see bad cakes...I'll show you bad cakes.....UGLY CAKES THAT IS!!!
I couldn't post the rabbit with the silly bowtie because it also had my daughter in it......and I couldn't block out her little face because she loved that rabbit.......but here are the other winners!!!
Keep in mind this was BEFORE I had any pans....and before I realized you could make your own icing!!! hahaha.....oh heck with it...why make excuses....I SUCKED!!!
Briansbaker, I nearly wet my pants with your Nelly hoodie cake description. You are hilarious!!
I have to say briansbaker....I laughed pretty hard too!!!
ge your strawberry shortcake got me too!!!! I laugh because you all do such a great job now!!
edited to say....so did your baby in the box!!! OMG I busted out when reading what your husband said about it!!!
I have one, but its from before i ever REALLY got into cake deco...i always liked to bake...and i did..but i never decorated...so i'll have to look for a pic
twinsline: my husband told me to throw the baby cake away because it was watching him I have to say that is the most interesting Christmas tree I've ever seen
