I know that I have read on here that if you are going to color your mmf you should do it while you are making it. My question is, do you add it to the marshmallows and mix it into the MM before pouring it into the powdered sugar? or do you just add it then pour it all into the mixer and let it mix itself in?

It is much easier to blend the color into the melted marshmallows. Make it a bit darker as it will lighten with the addition of the sugar.

I think a lot of people add it into the melted marshmallows.....just make sure it's a little darker b/c the powdered sugar will dilute the color a little.

Is it ok to color afterwards? I'm only coloring small amounts for the decorations if that makes a difference.

It's perfectly ok to color after your mmf is made. You might want to use latex/rubber gloves on your hands and be prepared to do some kneading, but it's not that hard to work in the color.

I need to color MMF in small amounts as well and I had a heck of a time keeping the consistency where I was able to work with it. Does anyone have any tips? I add more PS as I add color since it gets too gooey.

Yep, I think that's what you have to do...just add more sugar as needed. Icing color WILL make it goopier. (is that a word?)
