Has anyone ever made a cake in the shape of a cake/bakery box? Or how about a cake shaped like a box that you fit roses into?

If anyone has any suggestions or links, please let me know. Thanks!

I've seen a cake that looked like a box of roses but it was just a long white rectangle cake with long stem roses on top and placed in a cake box to fit so it looked like a box of roses. I've never seen a cake that looked like a bakery box but I have seen a sweater cake that was in a box made of color flow.

That sweater cake is really cute! I was thinking the t-shirt cake could be used this way too, lots of variations to use with that one! I ordered a couple of the boxes and boards (which are a little flimsy and will need more than one layer for safety, should have ordered 4 rather than just 2) for the box of roses, thought it would be good for Mother's Day.

Can't imagine how you'd make a cake box cake, would you have it open with a cake inside? That would be fun, but what would you use for the walls of the box...large cookies maybe, or graham crackers? Could be quite a challenge, but different! Janice

Thanks lisa for the info. Its funny that you mentioned the box of roses b/c that's what I was going for. I was hoping to make that cake but also make a cake that looks like the book that the cake w/ roses fit into.

Yes, that cardboard box does look a little chintzy, not quite as bad in person as it looks in the photo! The box the sweater is in looks good, but I can't tell what it is made of. If I were going to try to make a box like that, I'd probably try the square cookie route! The edible box would be a lot prettier for the cake with roses on it! Janice

I was looking for a different cake entirely (spider-man holding up a building--I give up icon_sad.gif !) but I did come across this one. The only things non-edible are the rose stems and the tissue paper. It is so pretty!

That is pretty! Another idea just came to me. Make the box cake, bow, etc., edible, and put real or silk roses (with tissue paper, I guess) on top, that way you could eat the cake, keep the flowers...double gift! Janice

Good idea! That would be so much easier too. Triple bonus!
