Based on recommendations by CC members, I wanted to try several different brands of fondant. I have already tried Satin Ice and really liked it. I was so impressed with the customer service of the two sites I just ordered from, that I had to share this with my friends here at CC!!
On 3/7 I ordered Mill Lane Fondant through www.creativecutters.com and I already received it this morning (3/9)! I also thought their s/h prices were reasonable. I haven't tried it yet, but the flyer included says "Finished cakes can be stored in a dry refrigerator or freezer." I think SquirrellyCakes may have been the one who recommended this brand?
The other sight I ordered from was www.caljavaonline.com. I ordered Fondx to try (recommended by boonenati and others). I placed an order for one item (again reasonable price on s/h). After submitting my order, I realized I also wanted to try the white chocolate rolled fondant. I contacted their sales department via e-mail to see if I could add the item to my existing order so I wouldn't have to pay another s/h charge. They replied back within the day and said to place a second order on-line and they would refund the s/h charges! Which they did within hours of me placing the second order.
Just had to share!!! Last weekend I made my first cake covered in all fondant (satin ice) and loved it. I can't wait to play some more! (started Wilton Course III on Tuesday - yeah!!!!)
Wow, that is quick, I ordered fondant by cakesbysam on 3/1 and still haven't received it...waiting patiently....maybe I will try that site next time.
Please let us know how the Mill Lane Fondant and Fondx taste compared to Satin Ice. Also, please let us know how the refrigerated Mill Lane Fondant cake does when stored in the refrigerator.
Thanks for sharing!
