I just checked out your web site and your cakes are beautiful! What is a "mudcake"? Your cake flavors seem much different than in the US. Just wondering.

some of her recipes are listed on cake central like dark chocolate mud cake and caramel mudcake cupcakes...

I only use Natis recipes now for all my cakes... they are heaven, never fail and everyone loves them.

Nati would have to be one of the most sharing cake decorating people I have met and I am so happy to know her via this site and regular emails even though we have never met in person

Mudcakes are very moist and firm cakes. Traditionally they are extremely heavy and dense, i have stlightly modified the recipes to still have a heavy cake, but it is a tad less dense. They are excellent for 3d cakes as they carve really well.
Basically the butter milk chocolate and sugar is all melted together, allowed to cool and then the dry ingredients are added. It is baked in a slow oven, and are just yum yum yummy!!!
Here are two of the recipes, if you want any additional tips, please send me an email or a PM
cheers
Nati

Yes,

Nati's cakes are wonderful, as is Nati.

I have had the privilige of meeting her and am happy to report that she is even nicer in person than on this site!

She visited me today in fact and we spent a couple of hours talking and catching up on things. In that time she even showed me how to make a flower I've been interested in learning!

Nati's the reason why I have gone from a stay at home Mum, baking cakes for everyone else at my own expense to starting up a business, registering my kitchen and heading toward my dream of becoming an in demand Cake Designer. She's a gem and a wonderful friend.

Fran
Are you trying to embarrass me??? Well i have news for you, I dont embarrass easily. ; )
Let me tell you a totally uncake like story. One day wake up, put on a purple shirt, was running late and i notice that my shirt had a button missing right on the bust area. Replaced the button, put on my coat, (middle of winter), and ran outside. Some silly dog had been in my lawn and left me a present, i was running late, didnt notice i had stepped on it, until i got in the car, and on my way to the train station i was stinking to high heaven. Try to scrape my shoe on the road, and removed most of the offending matter but i still stunk. I got to work and was telling my coworker (a young boy of 27), about my button and the doggie doo, then proceeded to tell other workmates, the same stupid story, about an hour or two later, i go to the loo and notice I NEVER DID MY BUTTON UP, AND I WAS POINTING IT OUT TO MY WHOLE WORKPLACE. I just laughed and went back inside and asked this guy why he didnt tell me my button was undone, and he thought that i had never replaced the missing buttons. DOH!!!!
An idiot I am!!! after that, it takes a lot to make me embarrassed, i can do it all on my own.

I would NEVER try to embarrass you! I am simply letting our fellow cake designers know what a good friend I have found in you and that you are a kind, giving person.

Most people like that don't get told often enough, so I am making sure that I spread the love.

Love that "boobie, doggie poopie" story by the way, I just about peed my pantsicon_smile.gif

I just have to say you are both so very talented!! I have quite a few of your cakes in my favorites icon_smile.gif I love the Australian/English way of cake decorating - so elegant and pretty! Maybe I should move to Australia - is it something in the water? icon_lol.gif

Thank you so much for sharing your recipes. I will have to try a couple. I think it is so great that so many people can share their ideas. etc and live in places so far away from each other. What a great support system!

I am having a HUGE guess here, but since our traditional cake decorating style comes from the UK, i'd say it was an english invetion. But i need to check that up, when i find out, will let you know.
