I just saw Sugar Rush on the Food Network, it was the one with the wedding cupcake tree. They showed some cakes from the Ohio Cake show...OMG. One woman did a cake where there was fringe hanging off the side of the cake. It moved if air passed over it. It was so cool!!!! She made these small candy cane shaped lines, probably with tip #1. When it dried, she hung several off of a loop that was piped on the side of the cake. She made quite a few. Way cool!!! Has anyone seen this technique before?

I saw them interview her on the show about the OK sugar art show. Can't imagine how long it took her to make all of them...and then attach them!! I wonder how many broke during the process...no doubt many just because they're so fragile. Painstaking work but with a beatiful pay-off, imo. icon_smile.gif

On Sugar Rush she said for every one she put on the cake, at least three broke. I don't know if I'd have enough patience for that!

I saw it tonight too, I have actually seen them all. Does anyone else think that the projects that he makes are totally dorky? I love the stuff the other people do, but his stuff just looks so tacky to me. Would he really have served that cupcake tree at a wedding? the berries didn't even match the frosting colors. What is up with that? Show us more on how to do the cool stuff that is what I want to know!

I guess his "thing" is going for the homemade look. I just heard that starting with the new season, it's more road trips, less of his stuff.

I was thinking the same thing about the stuff he does....real dorky and not very professional looking. I wonder if he makes this stuff in his own bakery.

I like the show but not him as a host.
