I cut a few strips of MMF to use as curls on top of my cake. I twirled them around my dowels , what next ?

Im not sure about MMF, but with regular fondant, you would just put it in a box, not airtight as it will keep any moisture and they may develop mould or may become soft. I just store my stuff on paper serviettes inside cardboard boxes. Would this be the same story with MMF???

I just put my MMF pieces in a box and loosely cover them until they harden. I've never put them in the fridge. I am not sure how they would do when they started to warm back up.

Not sure about MMF but regular fondant, you do not put bow loops or curls in the fridge - the humidity softens them, they get soggy and soft again. They may spot too, w/ mositure (I don't put fondant cakes in the fridge). Store your loops/swirls in a cool dry place, protected from light to prevent fading.
