Ok, I am still playing with this...I want to do scrollwork on the side of a buttercream cake, and would like it to look very even and uniform. Should I use a tilting cake turntable? I am using a buttercream with a little gel added to it. I have played with the Number 3 tip..but still cannot seem to get it all even. Do you use a template? Any hints on doing this stuff!

there is also a meassuring tool that cost about $4. You place it near the cake and measure perfectly around and can measure how far down the cake to go to make it all even.

I have used a press for on top of cakes..how do you use it on the sides? Do you just roll it?
