Jen,

I have heard people on here say they charge no less than $1.00 per cupcake up to $2.50. I am just assuming that it would depend on the amount of work you out into them, and if there are any toppers.

Hope that helps you out a litlle!

Well Lindsay, you started something - if you don't mind, I'd like to see what you came up with. I know I often under price, but in my area alot of people would rather pay the cheaper price for Wal-mart. I have loyal customers who will pay anything, but I certainly don't want to overcharge them either!

Thank you for sending the list. It is very simple and will be very useful! However I am just curious, where do you find pudding for 25 cents?

I was just thinking about the .25 pudding, does that cost maybe not include the whole box, maybe just a portion of it. I'm not sure, I was just thinking.

I have a question? I have my first cake order and I am not sure what to price it at. It will be a car shape cake for a childs birthday party. I will just use a star tip and use BC icing. What is the going rate to charge these days?

That's why I underprice too icon_sad.gif I live in a tiny town where people are used to just getting cheap crap at the IGA, and I'll never bring them around if I charge what I should be charging!

For cupcakes, I charge $8/dozen for the basic, just swirled icing on top & some sprinkles (same price as the IGA) and $12/dozen for the fancy ones...which is still ridiculously low, considering Starbucks sells basic cupcakes for $24/dozen icon_surprised.gif

Cbowen,

Thanks for the pricing tip on cupcakes! As far as the car cake, I am going to be of no help to you. I just bought the 3-D car cake pan for my son's birthday cake! If it comes out OK I want to sell some too! If you get a price from someone let me know! Good luck, and Congrats on your first order! Sorry I couldn't help!

Jen,

I have gotten prices on a car cake anywhere from $35 to $55. I guess it just depends on your experience and the area you live in.

But you could if you wanted.

Would you like me to email my list? So you can see how I did it?

Would you please email me a copy, also? [email protected]

May I PLEASE have a copy of the list. I use the matrix to get a general idea, but I'd like to see where someone else went with the pricing thing too. There is a woman here that has been doing cakes for quite a while and has a very large customer base. She charges basically $20 for everything that comes out of her kitchen. (her cakes and icing are wonderful!) She charged a friend that for a cake I would've asked at least $30 for. Everyone, including customers tell her she doesn't charge enough, but she stays where she is. It helps to have alot of input on pricing when you're doing this, that way you feel more sure about your charges. ([email protected]) THANK YOU!!!

Haven't see any posts from Creativecakesbylindsay in a couple of days. Maybe when she gets this she can just post it here rather than sending it to all of us. I'm curious to see what she's come up with too.
