i have a customer who wants a cake that she saw on the web that is made out of fondant, but she wants a buttercream cake. question...can i put fondant on the sides of a buttercream iced cake??...will it hold???
If your butter cream is thick enough, I don't see why not! You might have to wiggle the fondant into it a bit though. I use buttercream to 'glue' fondant accents to cakes, but I don't know how big (or heavy) your accents are going to be!
If it's just the gold bits that will be fondant, I'd say no problem! It's a stunning cake, good luck with it
I don't see any reason why you couldn't do this on BC. Like evryone said, make sure your icing isn't too thin. I put a figure made out of MMF laying against a hill, the icing had not completely crusted yet. Well, the MMf stuck to it like glue. Since the the icing was still "wet", it had something to adhere to. I was afraid she was gonna slide off, but even traveling with it, it stayed on. It's in my pics.
Sure you can,,,
Just make sure icing is thick can glue it with a tinly bit of water or clear vanilla
I've glued fondant to buttercream cakes with out problems. I just let my icing crust over and spread a little bit of piping gel on the back of the piece to attach it.
