Hello, I am needing to make a cake for an office party for a father-to-be. They know it's going to be a girl. What they asked for was a cake that looked like a pretty diaper or diaper cover and then when it is cut it would look like a dirty diaper. Any ideas would be great. I have about 2 weeks before I need to make this cake, but I'm not having much luck finding any ideas on line. TIA.

I can't help thinking of the color of guacamole. It's kind of a pukey green. Maybe a pistachio flavored cake?

how about a chocolate cake made into the shape of a diaper..........shouldn't be too hard to cut the shape out of any shaped pan..........maybe you could use a round cake pan and then just cut the top straight across and cut in a little bit in a circular shape for each of the leg cut outs......kinda hard to explain.....hopefully you get what I mean

What about a nice fondant (thick to hide colors inside) outside, then iced with a "gross green" buttercream and a chocolate cake inside? Would that work? The outside should be frilly, flowers and very girly. LOL What a cute idea for a gag cake. (pun intended)

I vote for a chocolate cake with some kiwis in the filling- just the right shade of green! LOL
Another suggestion, and I will let you imagine the end result... but did you happen to see the episode of the show Sugar Rush (food network) where they made the giant fried egg cake?? You could do something similar to that.

what about a fondant covered cake with mushed up large toostie rolls, candy clay, or chocolate sauce that comes out when you cut it...

I've never tried it on a big cake, but I have made small "molten cakes" where there's a yummy, chocolaty filling inside that sort of oozes out when you cut into it.

good luck - can't wait to see how it turns out! be sure to post pictures!

That's what I was thinking, the egg cake. You could shape the cake, ice it "skin tone". At the "exit point" scoop out some cake and put something ewey, cover it alittle with the scrap cake piece then make a diaper of fondant.

Is this for a customer you don't personally know, or a friend? Maybe you could gently suggest other options. The whole thing sounds perfectly awful to me. See the discussion on the decorating ideas section. Someone wanted a pregnant mother with a sonogram pic on it. It's kind of a sick image when you slice that baby up? Let them be creative with a gag gift. I think a cake for a baby should be adorable.

I may have offended someone, but I hope only to offer an alternate solution.

Good luck with the cake. Let us know how it turns out!
