I have a request for a groom's cake for a wedding on May 20. The groom & the groomsmen are all in the navy (currently aboard The USS ROOSEVELT, an aircraft carrier). The groom also works on HELOS (sp?). Cake is to be chocolate with raspberry filling. any suggestions/pictures?

Tami's cover cake (they're covers...not hats) is way cool. If you decide to use a cover in any way, make sure you've got the right one. It would not be cool to use an enlisted man's cover for an officer's cake, and vice-versa. The Navy emblem in edible image, FBCT or chocolate transfer is always great. Or, even more personal...find out if he's in a squadron instead of ship's company. Since he works with helicopters, that's probably the case. If he's in a squadron, they will have an emblem, too...and probably a slogan. They're usually very colorful.
My daughter was on the Roosevelt. It's called "The Big Stick"...as in "Walk softly and carry a..." maybe you could use that in some way.
i did a grooms cake, he too was on the USS Roosevelt, i did a 3d aircraft carrier and took their emlem and did that also. its filed under the military cakes if your thinking of doing a 3d ship.
How about an anchor with a life saver (that ring thing) made to look like it's hanging off of it.
Thanks for all the wonderful replies!! I LOVE the "cover" cake. Can someone sned me directions for those? I will have to find out which type of cover to use (officer or enlisted man, etc.)
I use a purchased Raspberry filling that I get from a local shop here.
