I just got a birthday cake order to be picked up tomorrow night. It is for a 30th birthday. NO flowers. The birthday girl is into "modern" and "urban."

I'm stumped! Any ideas please?
THANKS!

What about a computer or something "technical"Modern with a message stating Happy Birthday on the monitor icon_smile.gif

Maybe a pink & black theme...or pink & brown. There are alot of great cakes like that in the gallery. Not sure if that is modern & urban though. Not even sure if I know what that means icon_confused.gif Okay, I don't think I've been much help...sit tight for more helpful answers icon_lol.gif

In my photos there is a rehearsal dinner cake with dots up the sides, I have flowers in the picture, but maybe you could make a fondant bow for the top and fondant ribbon around the bottom. I love the pink and brown color scheme.

modern and urban to me mean clean lines and cool colors. no flowers or leaves or anything frilly. i like ge978's idea for colors, a chocolate brown with baby pink or even brown with teal.
a great example would be to look at antonia74's gallery and check out her version of ashton and demi's wedding cake and use that as an inspiration...actually most of her cakes are fabulously modern. hope that helps, good luck!

Pink and brown is my favorite combo right now! Maybe just a simple brown fondant or really smooth chocolate buttercream. With some pink accents. Swiss dots or polka dots in different sizes. A smooth bead border on the bottom only. I did one like this with roses on top, but maybe you could add a bow instead.

Did you see Antonia74s funky black and white cake with the circles? It is awsome and very inspirational! You should check it out! I think it is very modern.

I keep seeing Tiffany's box cakes with the Tiffany blue color and a white bow. I think those look really cool and modern. If you check out the gallery, there are a lot of them. Just search with the key word Tiffany. Urban, modern girls like Tiffany's, right? Hope this helps.

I really like the idea of going with a teal and brown color scheme, Maybe cover the cake with ganache and pipe teal dots all over? Hmm...lots to think about now!

Thanks again!
