Would painting the eyes with luster dust give you the look your looking for?

Paint some piping gel on them. icon_smile.gif If you are painting pupils or other color I'd do it after you do the piping gel. But if you have precolored fondant it should work fine.

I don't have luster dust available to me unless I order it on-line icon_cry.gif. Piping gel? Is there a recipe for that on this site or any other? I haven't seen it in the store.

You can thin a little light corn syrup with water and paint it on lightly. You can rub on a bit of crisco, butter, or margarine. You can paint the fondant with water and it will also be shinier than plain rolled fondant. All of these techniques would need to be done on fondant that is colored for use and not painted, as they could ruin painted accents.

Happy decorating!

bloom some gelatin then dissolve and set it, reheat to liquid and paint on lightly. Itll be really glossy and shouldnt affect color except slightly darkening icon_smile.gif

Here is a recipe for piping gel. I got it from Food 911.
2 envelopes plain gelatin
2 tablespoons cold water
2 cups light karo syrup
Put water in small pan. Sprinkle gelatin over this and let set 5 minutes.
Heat on LOW heat until totally clear and gelatin is dissolved.
Add syrup and heat throughly
Be sure not to stir rapidly. This causes bubbles.
Cool and store in fridge up to 2 months.

A small amount of glycerine thinned with water to a painting consistency gives a great shine when it's painted over fondant
