Hello everyone,
My name is Christine, I've been perusing your galleries for the past few days and decided to just jump on in and introduce myself. I didn't see a newbie posting area so I figured here would be a good place to start.

I live in Boston, MA and have been making cakes for family and friends for a few years. I have a few pictures of my cakes but after seeing the ones in the gallery I think I'd be embarrassed to post them. There are some amazingly talented decoraters here. I'm finally signing up for my first Wilton class tomorrow and can't wait to get started, though I'll still have to wait a week. At this point I use only buttercream and I can't wait to learn how to use fondant and some of the other things I've read about here.

Thanks for letting me introduce myself,
Christine

Thank you so much for such a warm welcome ladies icon_smile.gif I can see that I will be addicted as I spent so much time just reading the articles and looking at all the fantastic cake pictures. I did post one of my cakes, I have to find the files that have the others. I tend to be a little shy and mainly read on mb's but I think that will be different here as I'm sure I'll be coming to you all with tons of questions.
Thanks again for welcoming me icon_smile.gif

Welcome Christine! Another CC junkie in the making! I was pretty timid about posting pics as well, but I have received nothing but praise. (and some of my cakes have been pretty questionable!!!). And to be quite honest, I learn something from every cake I see on this site, whether or not it is a "perfect" creation. Even if the cake has imperfections, you still learn from the overall Idea.

Plus, As it has been said many many times, we are our own worst critics!

Oh Cheftaz, please forgive me icon_redface.gif , I truly didn't mean to offend. I'm so used to 'talking' to all moms on a parenting website, this will take some getting used to.

Welcome!!! icon_biggrin.gif

You obviously have talent. (I just peeked at your photos. They're great!!! thumbs_up.gif ) I absolutely love the carousel cake. What is the top layer (top of the carousel) sitting on-besides the poles from the horses? Also, where did you find the horses?

Welcome!

Wow, you are all so sweet! Thank you again for such a warm welcome.

Bakersofcakes, the carousel has two discs that the poles snap into on each end. I was soooo worried that it was going to crush the bottom cake or fall over. I got it at Michaels, theres a few variations you can do with the set, of course I chose the most difficult for my first time with it. I'm pretty sure its made by Wilton. I'll try to find a link for it.

Ok, I found it, I hope this link works, http://www.wilton.com/store/site/product.cfm?sku=2103-1139&killnav=1

edited to add link

Welcome to CC thumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gif. I know ow you feel about your first cakes and posting them for everyone to see. But here at CC, it feels just right when you hear how well you are doing. I have just completed the Wilton classes, I know you will learn alot from them, but you will also learn lots more here at Cake Central.

Have lots of fun and will be watching to see your next cake project!!!!
