i am doing a shower cake and mints for tomorrow afternoon. when i called today with a couple of questions, i was asked about baby booties made of marshmallows. i have found an idea or two on the web, but not really any pics or really definite directions. anybody got any ideas? i do a lot of work for this customer, like a cake a week or so, and this is for her family, so i'd like to be able to do them for her if i can find how to do them right. thanks in advance for any info anyone has.

Do you mean booties made from actual marshmallows or marshmallow fondant? I have a pic in my album of a shower cake with a mmf onesie and booties. The booties were pretty easy to make, just free-form them. HTH

Or do you mean using marshmallows for the structure and piping over them to form booties?

they are wanting a real marshmallow covered in buttercreme....someone had done them 20+years ago for this family when they lived in another state.

Oh, EEEEEE-Z : stand one up on end - that's your heeland ankle, cut another in half and half again -this is your toe, pipe all over with some stars or whatever, maybe a little flower and/or bow. Done!

Does it make sense? Sometimes I write like I talk - way too fast....I need to work on both.

Tastycakes- THANK YOU!!!! I want to do these too. But I found instructions to do them by cupcakes. The marshmellow seems alot easier. Yes these women and men are godsend. woohooo off to the kitchen I go!!

Marshmallows can be used in so many ways! Once you do the booties you'll start to see other ways to use them. I use them a lot when I make smash cakes for the first birthdays - you can turn it into anything from spongebob to a kitty. Have fun!

they were a hit this afternoon....i ended up using 3 MM that i put together with toothpics in a "L" shape. they looked a little out of proportion until i covered them in BC stars. they fattened up just right. the ones that used 1 1/4 MM were too small as they were actually used to decorate the table instead of the cake. but that looked great, too. i will definitely be making them way ahead next time so they have time to dry. they were starting to fall since i had to transport them so soon after finishing. i really only just had time to change out of my sweats before i needed to leave to deliver them. eventually i'll have time to get some pics on here, but not so far.

thanks again for all the advice everyone
