Must one use the pegs along with separator plates? I am using Wiltons Grecian pillars (That I will disguise with fondant) along with the separator plates they came with for the very first time. They also came with 4 pegs. Wilton says they do not offer support, just helps keep the plate from shifting. I am going to put wooden dowels in, anyway....

in your opinions, do I need 4 more holes in the cake for the pegs?

Thanks!!

I haven't used mine yet I got them from another decorator and she told me yes you need to use the pegs along with the dowels.

I think 'need' is a strong word...but I do use them whenever I'm doing a cake that I would be devestated if it tips over!
