Hi everyone! I'm a newbie and I have been so excited to share this with all if you. I have completed course 1 if the wilton cake decorating classes and am starting course 2 next week. in the meantime i have been obsessed with CC and have been reading everything.

i have always loved fondant cakes and can't wait to learn more during course 3. in my eagerness, i decided to experiment and make my own MMF (learned through recipes and tips found here) and make my first MMF covered cake. Overall this is the third cake I have decorated in my life. In hindsite, I probably should have picked an easier cake to make but nonetheless, I loved the challenge. There are things I know I can do better next time and I'll definitely go slower and pay more attention to details.

So without further adieu...here it is. I'd love your comments and suggestions. I wanna learn as much as I can!

Thank you for letting me share!
LL

Hi Riagirl,
I'm new to the Board as well and I am sooooo impressed with your cake! I start the Wilton class 3 on Sunday and want to try the MMF so bad. A few questions now that you are a pro! How did you get the top and the sides of the slice to adhere together? They are different colors so how did you get them to stick together? Also, what if it was all one color...how difficult would it be to cover the triangle slice and not have a lot of wrinkles or creases? Thanks for your help! I guess I just have to jump in with both feet!

Best,
Theresa

thanks all!!

hey theresaicon_smile.gif i am in no way an expert, just a bit daring. i found this cake on the "essentials of cake decorating" book i picked up at borders and it had complete instructions. i basically just cut panels of fondant for the sides of the cake, top and back of cake are one panel. they adhered pretty well to the buttercream crumb coat and i just dabbed a bit of water to glue top and sides together. after that i just painted everythign on, including the "frosting" and "cake with filling".

pm me if you want and i'll scan the instruction page from the book and send you icon_smile.gif

thanks again everyone!!
