I finished this cake last night but I need to write "happy birthday rachel" on it. I meant to leave space at the bottom on the board to write but forgot. icon_redface.gif So now I'm trying to figure out if I should use white or another color to write across the quilt.

Please help!! It is getting picked up tomorrow.

I love this cake! You did such a beautiful job on it. Do you think maybe you could write on the pillow? Or maybe the side on the white blanket? The only reason I suggest this is because the quilt is so perfect, I would hate to see any of it covered with writing. If you do end up writing on the quilt, then I would say white would probably be the best.

Take this advice with a grain of salt...I posted again before coffee icon_lol.gif

The white on the side of the quilt is not really enough to write on.

I was thinking the same thing as ge978. Would it be possible to write on the pillows? If you do decide to write on the quilt, I would say white or choose one of the colors from the quilt but, make it a shade or two darker. Sorry, I know I'm not much help.

Your cake is amazing!! I can only imagine how much time went into it. Great work!

what about making a rug for beside the bed, and write it on that? By the way, the cake is really great.

Do you have time to make a little throw pillow that says Happy Birthday on it? Or what about a white chocolate plaque that you could place on the board at the foot of the bed?

I know nothing of scuptured cakes, so just roll your eyes and move on if this is idiotic.

I was thinking along those lines too - what about making a simply folded throw (blanket) at the bottom - white so you could write on it?

what about making a little sign that says Happy Birthday So and So and attaching it to a toothpick. That way the writing doesn't look out of place on such a beautiful cake.

That's what I do for cupcake tree's.

Your cake is lovely!! I agree with all the posters here -- make a little placque and lean it up against the pillow, or write around the cake board, but please don't spoil that beautiful quilt!

Great job!!!

It must be something in the air. I was just coming back here to read the posts and post the idea I just had about making a little folded card to put on the bed like they do at hotels. I think I'll save my sanity with this cake and print one out and laminate it then "glue" it to the bed. I was thinking of putting:

Especially for Rachel
Happy Birthday!
