Ok so I get a call this week asking for an armadillo cake on thursday. I said yes and then thought oh... can I do that? I looked around and couldn't find a whole lot. Thanks to those of you who helped with suggestions! The link to the article I had seen before and the one somone posted didn't work anymore, so I pretty much winged it. i was up till about 3:00 this morning, but it's done. I delivered it today and they loved it! The best thing about this cake is that my 2yr old didn't want anything to do with it! I didn't have to worry about little fingers in the frosting.
Your armadillo is awesome! I would be totally psyched about it too! Can you give us a quick run down of how you made this cake? Thanks!
My goodness, what a great job you did. You deserve a price. Keep you the good work. One day I will be good too, I hope.
WOW, I am with your 2 year old! That thing looks REAL!!!!!
You did an absolutely fantastic job, thanks for sharing.
Well, my first reaction is "YUK"- because it looks so REAL!!!!!!!!!!!! Awesome job! Reminds me of the movie "Steel Magnolias." Was it red velvet?!!!!
WOW--WOW--WOW!!! That is fantastic!!! YOU WINGED IT? You did an awsome job. I can see why they were so excited about it.....Pat yourself on the back girl, you dun good!!!!

Thank you all so much! Yep... It's red velvet. Gross! At about midnight last night I was thinking "what did I get myself into?" Then I was thinking how bad it looked, but I kept working and I'm pretty proud of it. It seems like I go through that with all my cakes. I have a "this is going to look like crap" moment, but it usually turns out ok if I keep working. I'm trying to write out some instructions that make sense. I'll try to post them later.
Thank you all again for making me feel so great!
Excellent job, but I've not seen any of your cakes that aren't. I have those moments too..... It is so great when they turn out like you wanted them too.....
