My daughter's cake wasn't perfect or a masterpiece, but it was special and I was very proud. Thank you for teaching me about tiering and layering and frosting. I have a long way to go...but I never thought I would ever make a cake for someone, and I know I wouldn't have done it without all of the advice from this site.

I can't wait for course II to start!!

Thank you, everyone. I was very nervous about stacking it..that tip I read about not pushing the dowels all the way in, and just letting the cake sit on them so you have finger space and letting the cake push them down was very helpful. The center dowel was the hardest for me. I put pilot holes in the boards, but I was a bit shakey from being nervous, so I did have lots of touch up to do.... icon_redface.gif

How does everyone tier their cakes so nicely??? That takes skill.

I got to use my new pruning shears for the garden, though, to cut the dowel rods...that worked great!! I will have to buy a second pair for cake making!!
