i would like someone to try this recipe and tell me what you think. icon_smile.gif
4 cups p. sugar
1 cup shortening
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
2 tsp. almond flavoring
cream together shortening and flavorings. add p. sugar. beat for 5 minutes.
tell me what you think. icon_confused.gif

that looks similar to the wilton buttercream recipe...wihout any water and mereinge(sp) powder...am i right? i actually dont mind the taste of this buttercream.

that's my exact recipe minus the almond flavoring.....for my bc.....only I also add three sticks of butter....in adition to the shortening

That's what I was going to say. It is just like the Wilton recipe. It's just going to be a little stiffer consistency because of the shortage of water. But on the other hand, you have omitted meringue powder. You can make BC without meringue powder technicaly, it's fine, it just doesn't form as hard a crust which is what the egg whites in the meringue does. Are you having a problem with it?

oh, i forgot the milk. add milk to get desired consistency.
i had no clue this was a recipe from wilton.
i came up with this recipe 11 years ago when i was looking for something different. several of my customers asked if it was made with whipped cream. icon_eek.gif i think it's cause i beat it so long? icon_confused.gif
