Okay, the whole cake for friends thing has snowballed yet again (we move every couple of years) and I need to think about being legal. Does anyone know if you can do cakes out of a home in Florida? Any other details would be GREATLY appreciated too. Thanks.

I just looked this info up a couple of weeks ago. I think it was under the dept of agriculture. You have to have a separate kitchen that meets certain specifications. I think I went to myflorida.com first and poked around till I found what I was looking for.

Thanks. That kind of stinks icon_smile.gif fortunately I am still at the practice level. I do need my own refrigerator for the cakes (just friends can keep you busy enough) - and after that - wouldn't it be nice to have an oven and a workspace and storage space, etc. etc. - a whole kitchen just for cakes!!!!
Someday....

I know what you mean. I'm trying for a fridge right now but I've already told my dh once he is finished with school and we get a nice size house I get my own room for cake/craft stuff!

I'm attempting to go therough the whole getting my food lic. right now. It's a pain right now, trying to weed through all the rules....but I think I'm making progress!!! We are going to build an attachment to our house. Alot of requirements...but I think once I get up and running...it'll be sooooo worth it!!!

If you have any questions just pm me and I'll see what I can do to help!!

That's great Christine! I envy you - not all the work and hoops to jump through, but that you're on your way to having your own "cake" kitchen". Keep us updated!!! I'd loved to hear what you do!
