There are some really great...and I mean GREAT.... cakes on here, several of which have caught my eye. I have never done figure piping before and I was wondering if anyone wouldn't mind sharing with me how exactly to do this?? I would really like to try my hand at this particular technique. I have seen a book about figure piping and I hope that I can get it soon (I'm afraid at the moment I can't spare the money to get any new books, we are a bit strapped for cash) , but for the mean time I would really appreciate it if anyone could direct me to some good instructional sites or tutorials about figure piping. Thanks for your time, have a wonderful afternoon.
I apologize, there was no reason to tell my financial situation. I wasn't trying to make anyone feel sorry for me. OK.... getting off the sappy topic, I am very excited to begin figure piping and am very confident I can do it. Why? because.....there are some great people on here that I thank for there inspiration, help, encouragement, and kindness. I only have one regret.......I wish I would have found this site sooner
Don't apologize Pink Opossum.....we all spill our guts here alot!!! And we all certainly understand what it is like to be strapped for cash!! I learned to do figure piping by going back through my older wilton yearbooks..I have everyone from 1979-2006 and in some of the older years they showed alot about figure piping in their books.I believe that Roland Winbeckler also has a few books out and one is about figure piping.I don't have a scanner or I would send you some pages...maybe someone else will see this post and take a look in their books and send you a few pages by email.
Please don't feel bad about your first post
Here's a link to a few figure piping to get you started

you can also print the image in reverse and use clear piping gel to outline the image and then transfer it to the cake. all you have to do is go over it with black icing or whatever color you prefer.
