I have been asked to make a cake for a lady that makes and sells purses. So, clever me, has decided to make a purse cake. My friend just recently gave me Collette Peter's Birthday Cakes . I am planning to use the purse cake in this book. I am, however, only going to use the shape, chain, and clasp. The birthday lady likes butterflies, so I am trying to think of a way to incorporate these into the cake. My thoughts are, and I just got this idea from a cake that was posted this morning, and sorry can't remember to whom it belongs, are to make the cake a solid color, indent the butterflies with a cutter, and then paint the butterflies. My problem is: what color chain and clasp: gold or silver? what color purse? what color butterflies: all the same or diff., solid or like butterflies? Please, any help would be appreciated.

Do you know what colors the birthday lady likes? Is she a bold color or soft color person? If she likes bright colors I would go with multi-color butterflies but if she goes for softer colors then I would go with one color butterflies.

Do you know what the napkins and plates will look like? Perhaps you could go with similar colors from there.
