I am doing the same thing for a cake for Saturday! I was planning to start on Wednesday. I would like any pointers/tips also.

If you add gum tex to your fondant that will help it dry faster or you could use fixodent. The one thing I found with gum tex is that your fondant doesn't stay really white. So if you are adding color it won't bother it at all.

Hope this helps.

I made MMF booties for a cake due yesterday and they dried very quickly, within a day. I think you'll be good to go.

I think it depends on how thick your pieces are and what you put them on to dry. If you put them on a wire rack with wax paper, they'll dry faster than say putting them on a silpat on the counter. If the pieces are thick, they'll take longer to dry hard. I wouldn't really be thoroughly concerned though b/c they are just decorations nothing that requires solid dryness. Also, I add gumtext to my pieces and they do get fairly hard rather quickly.
