I am new to all this and I was wondering about how many tips a person really *needs* I have a good amount but I know I need more. Do you think that there are certain tips that you recommend having more than one of? I know that I worked on something this weekend and it would have been sooo much easier to have more than one of certain tips. I got a $50 gift card for my birthday and I am going to use it to buy decorating stuff. I was thinking about buying more tips. Any thoughts on this?
Thanks!
Heather
I haven't been doing this very long but have found that multiple 3's, 12's, star and petal tips are nice to have to do multiple color flowers, borders, etc etc
I too find that having multiple tips is good. I have 4 of some tips and 2 or 3 of others. Depends on what you do a lot of. You would hate to have to be cleaning the same tip in the middle of decorating. I also like to buy unique tips that are hard to find. I don't think you can ever have enough tips.
I am a firm believe in mutiply tips AND couplers! I know I have over 20 couplers. I think any round tips are worth having, and usually a couple of. 3 is often used for outlining and writing, so it usually helps to have several of them. Are you into cakes that use the star fill in with several different colors? If so you want several 16/18s. 21's are great for shell borders. I also agree it's good to have many petal tips.
Think about what kind of cakes you are doing or want to do. Which tips do you use more than others. It varies person to person.
well there are a few that you can't decorate without, #22 star tip, #3 round (for writing and swirls n such) #104 for roses and swags and ruffles, and 352 for leaves and such. I would also recommend getting lots of couplers and maybe 4-5 star tips and an assortment of rounds.
im so amazed.........i dont know the numbers of any of mine but i do add multiples of them.....its easiest to have extras instead of popping the same tip into diffeerent bags.....
i just eye balled it though went to the store and bought what looked good.....
