I've been thinking about getting one of these stand sets, but they look like they would be a little top-heavy and unstable with cakes on them. Does anyone have them or something very similar? Do you like them? Have any trouble?

Thanks for any input! icon_biggrin.gif

I borrowed one from Tami so maybe she will post. It worked well for me. No problems.

I purchased these for a wedding cake I did...

They worked fine, but I was a little concerned about cutting the cake on them, they're a little top heavy (especially these cakes, my chocolate cake is very dense). I wasn't around when they were served, but standing when I left!

I purchased some stands similar to yours from vanhorn-hayward and I really like them, they are very sturdy and easy to clean.
Visit their web-site www.vanhorn-hayward.com

Good Luck!

Thanks everybody! You've convinced me; I'll go ahead and buy a set for myself. icon_biggrin.gif

BTW, cakesbyallison, those cakes look scrumptious! thumbs_up.gif

I helped a friend deliver a wedding cake to be set up on these stands. She was almost done and I had just come in from getting the last cake out of the van, only to find her in tears! They were set up in a semi-circle as in the photo above, when she heard a cracking noise as the glue let go from one on the right and fell to the left - taking that one down as well! I"m sure many have used these without a problem as they've been around for years, but I'll never use them again!!! And she said she won't either!

I had them too and didn't have any problems. Although I wouldn't cut the higher layers but don't see any problems cutting the lowest one.
