Ok this is a silly question....what is the difference between gumpaste and fondant. I've seen some cakes with gumpaste flowers/stars on wire sticking out of the cakes (like lollipops) couldn't that be done with fondant?

I just don't know what the differences are...

Thanks!

Not a silly question....gumpaste is just a harder version so to speak of fondant...it will dry much harder, but is a little more pliable than fondant to thin and ruffle...if you add gumtex to fondant you get gumpaste....fondant is meant to be eaten, gumpaste not so much.
