Well tonight is the Wilton course 1 final tonight...
I am nervous, I will post a pic tonight on the final product.
Wish me Luck!
do you take your wilton classes at a craft store or what??? I have a craft store near me that offers the classes.....but I don't know if it's just one class or a series of classes......its 20 dollars............probably just one class....????????
Usually the Wilton courses are seperated into 3 different courses each once a week for 4 classes. Each course is paid for seperately and there are usually promotions running and coupons in the stores mailer. I think the Michaels promotion for March is buy the kit and get the class free. So I was able to find a 50% off coupon for the $25 kit for course 3 and then the course was free. So I only paid $12.50.
You should definitely check into the courses they are so much fun!
yeah, I just found a Michael's store nearby (didn't know it was there )......I just bought the kit at A.C. Moore last week!!!!!!!!!! Can you believe it??? LOL oh well.........have you taken any of these craft store courses??? Are they just as good as the other ones people take???
I have just finished Wilton's course 2 and had a lot of fun in it, I can't wait to begin course three on Monday!
I haven't taken any other decorating classes so I can't really compare them for you, but I cansay that they will go over all the basics. As a self taught decorator I found the first course somewhat repetitive of what I already knew. You learn how to ice a cake, make borders, roses, gel transfers, star fill, figure piping and writing. I the second course you learn a slew of flowers, color flow, basket weave and rope border.
I haven't taken course 3 yet, but it is working with fondant and some strign work, embrodery and such, you make a two tiered cake in this class, like a wedding cake.
You can look at my photos. All of my class cakes are labeled as such with course number and class number. You make 3 cakes in course 1 and one in course 2. I think you make 2 in course 3.
For the small amount of money they cost I think the classes are worth it. Looking at your cake photos I would say that you will pretty much know everything in the first course, but it's still fun! And you have to take it to progress to the others, which are a lot more fun. I really enjoyed learning all the different flowers!
You will do great!!! make sure to post the picture. I will be starting Wilton III and I can't wait.
Have fun with the cake.

Do you have to bring in your own cakes to decorate?

I have worked some hard jobs in my life, but since being a stay at home dad, HOUSEWORK is by far the hardest, never ending, energy draining job I have ever had....
I commend anyone who does it! people just don't know til they try it.

Congratulations on your cake!! You did a stupendous job and have such talent. I bet your cake was the best in the class!
