My grandson is turning 2 in April and would like a airplane cake. I would like to make this cake without buying a airplane pan. Does anyone have directions?

I think you might could use a jelly roll style cake for the body of the plane and cut the wing and tail sections from a sheet cake!

I just posted one last week that I made using a half sheet cut in thirds and filled. I chilled it then carved it into shape, covered in buttercream and fondant. Take a look in my Photos.

If you are good with your hands you could mold one out of candy clay or fondant.

If you are not comfortable with that you could look for a chocolate candy melt mold online. I am sure they would have one at the candyland store...

PS. we just named our new baby girl Antoinia, we call her Toni. We love the name !

Hi Vera,

If you PM me your email address I can email you a couple of different airplane patterns made from normal pans.

Hope this will help.

You could make the cake the runway and put a toy airplane on it. That way he can keep the plane to play with afterwards!
