Hi all,
Can someone give me help with scroll work. I have tried it and it just doesn't look right to me, now I need to do a wedding cake in August with it. icon_eek.gif If anyone could give me any pointers or point a few good examples out, I would appreciate it! icon_biggrin.gif

As with anything else, practice, practice, practice. What I have done is actually write them out on paper first to see what they look like.

Depending on the look you are going for, nice, even pressure on the bag is necessary. I use icing that is on the thinnner side but not really "thin".

You can get the Wilton press sets and then pipe over your lines. What I did this past weekend was drew it on the cake with a toothpick first and then pipe over that.

The first cake I ever did scrollwork on, I used the presses. I haven't used them since--I felt like it was too much work and wanted the freedom of doing them myself.

Here is a pic of my first scroll work cake.

The rest of my scroll cakes are in my pics. Those are all free hand.

HTH!

Lisa
