Our friend is having a gameparty and wanted me to make a cake for him. I am thinking of making xbox -cake.

I have never used mmf (fondant) before and only once marzipan. I have few questions if you please can help me...

1) can I make smaller amount of mmf than the recipe here says? Should I just half all the ingredients?

2) can I use pink MM's (we have only a pag with pink and whiteones here in Finland)?

3) can I put the cake with MMF to the fridge? Or will it sweat?

4) I have wilton black and americolor black (small bottles)? Wilton or Americolor?

thanks you guys and girls.

1) I have made a much smaller amount.....I only used a cup of marshmallows and then a sprinkle of water.....and then just added powdered sugar until I got a good consistency.....so I would say yes.
2)I don't see why not, or you could color some mmf red and mold it into a ball and flatten slightly
3)that's the biggest argument, some same yes, some say no....all depends on the humidity in your fridge......cakes do well at room temp. for quite some time though...unless you're using some kind of custard filling, etc.
4)americolor (I hear)is much better when trying to obtain black or red in strong colors.......another tip, let the fondant rest for a day or so after coloring......the black will get darker after sitting for a while, in case you think it doesn't look dark enough and keep it out of the light.........sunlight will fade the colors
Be sure to post the cake, sounds like it will be awesome : )

KHalstead: thank you so much for your reply...I was surprised when this guy wanted a cake from me. I hope it goes well.

I might have to but it in to the fridge, cos I use all-butter buttercream and maybe some mousse to fill the cake.
