my favorite yellow cake is the yellow downey from the cake bible. just made it again last weekend, it is perfectly buttery and moist. my fav. chocolate cake is by scott woolley "cakes by design", called chocolate brownie cake. it is dense, super moist and deep chocolate flavor, plus its a breeze to make.

scratch cakes are obviously more difficult to make than a mix so be sure to follow the recipe closely and i suggest you used a food scale. lastly, wrap your cakes in saran wrap while still hot for incredibly moist cakes, have fun baking
