Hey everyone! I was wondering if someone out there in cakeville can give me directions on how to use the edible transfers and how do you make them? What is required?

Do you mean edible images? These are printed on frosting sheets using edible inks and a printer. In order to make edible images, you'd need a compatible printer that will be used for edible imaging only, edible ink cartridges and a type of edible paper like frosting sheets. Only certain Canon, Epson and HP printers can be used to make edible images. I think the best choice in printers right now is either the Canon iP1500 or the Canon iP3000. You can buy the frosting sheets and edible inks at several sites online. I shop both Sugarcraft and Kopykake. You can find a lot of info on both of those sites about how to get started.

I need to come up with a cake for work. This would be for a boss who will be resigning and we were thinking that we want to use a picture of our boss on an edible image for the top of the cake........but rather than me go out and purchase all of the stuff for just this one needed - was wondering if anyone knows any place that would print and sell 1 or 2 for me?

I know safeway and other bakeries (that I never purchase from!) use edible image transfers, any idea on whether they would do an image for me if I paid them?

Any ideas on what I can do??

Does anyone on this board make them? Let us know how much if you do, I would rather pay someone on here and know that I will get them fast, then to order from someone I don't know!!

I saw a few people on Ebay that were selling them. I guess you just upload the photo and send it. This has been a week or so, so Not sure if they are still there, but it's worth a shot. You can atleast check feedback to see if they are reputable.

I've been looking into getting an image made, too. I did a bit of research. I phoned a few bakeries around the city, and they can do up a sheet for a reasonable amount, and they usually require only a day or so to make them up.....much better in my opinion...just to try one out....than buying all the supplies up front, as well as the printer...especially for only one or two images.

In the future I will look at buying the printer and supplies, but for now I'm just starting out and the bakery will do it for me quick and easy!

Just look in the phone book for a bakery that states they do the edible images. Hope this helps icon_biggrin.gif
