I am needing to do a #D alien head for a birthday in 2 weeks. I was thinking of using 2 pyrex bowls and a 6" round cake to make the head. My problem is I don't think that the bottom cake will hold under so much pressure from the cakes above. I also am needing to do a a neck for the alien as well. I'm going to use a rather thick dowel to hold the head up on the bust, but what else can I use for more stability?

I haven't done much to speak of with 3D but you want to use cake boards and dowels to help with support. Hope this helps just a little!

Do you need the servings the cake head would provide? I'd probably make that out of styrofoam and put it on the end of a stick. If you need those additional servings, though, you'd have to do more engineering, and I'm not sure....

Do you think if I used a styrofoam half-cylinder on the bottom part of the head and seperater that with a cake board it would be okay?

I do need those extra servings. That is why I want to do the whole torso in cake. Also, can I add chocolate to the sour cream pound cake? The cake needs to be chocolate flavored.
