Hi,
I would appreciate if I can get some help regarding a wedding cake.
I have a friend who is getting married and wants a 5 tier cake ,she can go to 4 tiers ,but she wants 5 tiers, about 180-200 servings. all tiers directly stacked on each other.
she wants the bottom and top tiers to be round, alternating square tiers, as in bottom round, then a square then a round and so on...
now we need at least 180 servings but no more than 200.
can anyone please help me what size cakes should I use???
also, what is the difference between Earlene's serving charts and Wilton serving charts, I know that a lot of decorators like Earlene's better...
thanks alot.
now someone suggested a 16"rd then a 12"square,then a 8" round then then a 5"square and finally at the end a 3"round tier at the top.
I'm wondering if 3" will make the cake look "narrow" at the top,as it is a pretty small tier!!!!
help anyone....please
waiting
honeyscakes.

Hi, not sure if this would help or not...
What about a 14" square base layer, 12" round, 10" square, 8" round then topped with 6" square? Draw it out on paper to roughly get the design you want and it serves at least 200. I know they are only 2" difference in layer size so it may not be the look you want to achieve.

I personally go by the wilton wedding cake cutting guide and the wilton wedding cake data chart.
Try those sites. I think if a customer asks how you came up with serving sizes and cake prices you would have a reputable company's chart to back you up there wouldn't be much to argue about.

Try 14"x12"x10"x8"x 6" rounds serves 196. I see you are looking for one round and one square all the way up. So just check the wilton cake data chart and that should help you out.

Good Luck!

Don't forget, with square cakes you get more servings.

Yes I know that square is more servings but it shows that on the cake guide and you could alternate the cakes the way your customer wants.
Good luck! That cake guide is a gem!

Richard, I also think the Wilton Wedding Cake Guide is the best. I tell all my students this. Also, just want to let you know you did a super job on your Wedding cake, with the fondant roses. This looks like the Wilton Wedding cake that is on the front of the book in Course 3. You would make any Wilton teacher proud. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the compliment I am still taking coursesI cannot get enough. My most favorite part of it all is making flowers fondant and BC.

I am addicted to it.

Will be done the end of March taking the summer off and going back to school in the fall. Some day I hope to have a home based legal business or turn this into a retirement income hobby thing.

Either way I am having fun with it and making very little with sales because I don't want to spread myself too thin while still attending school etc.
Let us know honeycakes how everything turns out.
