Care Bear Cupcake Cake Idea/question

My 5yr old daughter wants a purple Care Bear cake. I've seen so many cupcake cakes in the stores with the non frosted sides and thought this would be neat because we don't have to put them on plates and have utinsels to eat them with. I've surfed and surfed and haven't seen one anywhere on the web.
Could someone give me an idea on how many cupcakes I might need to do this with?
Here is a picture for inspiration. I would lay them out and play around with the placement. I would say like 15-20 cupcakes. Use a little bit of frosting to hold your cupcake in place on the cake board so they don't slide around once you have decided your design. You could do a frozen buttercream transfer and place in the middle. Just be extra careful that your cupcakes are level ( some people put a baking pan over them while they cool to help level and use a level scoop to fill when placing batter in liners. I hope this makes since
Oh i love that picture Kiddikakes!
I have also done a carebear face and made it the color of the bear i needed. Instead of just doing the cupcakes in a square shape I had a picture of the bear and arranged the cupcakes in the general shape. Head and then one cupcake for each ear.
I dont' have the pictures on my computer-they were taken with regular film and I don't have a way to scan in the pictures yet. But if you would like more detailed instructions let me know.

Here's something similar to what leily is talking about when arranging the cupcakes...

Wow Lisa, thanks so much for that great link.
glumyeeyore,
I have a coloring book of the Care Bears and will e-mail you some pages if you like.
The two Care Bear sheet cakes that are in my photos came from the book.
