Does the pot need to be an untreated terra cotta or are the ones OK that are laquered inside?

somebody will correct me if I'm wrong, but I would think the laquered pots are not foodsafe. When they are heated, would they not give off toxins from whatever they were sealed with?

THANKS FOR ASKING! I'M GOING TO DO THIS FOR MOTHER'S DAY. IF I CAN'T FIND THAT POTS, I'M GOING TO BAKE CUP CAKES AND MAKE THE POTS WITH FONDAT. WARNING! SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH, SPANISH SPEAKER.

Good info chefcindy! Can I order some pampered chef stuff from you?

Just got back from Petra and Amman in Jordan and while hubbie was up to his eyes in the Dead Sea Scolls and ancient cities here I am looking for crimpers! Pampered Chef is on my list now, thank you for the introduction.

I have made fruit cakes in terracotta pots - just lined them with baking paper
the flowerpot is covered in fondant to look like the pot.

Jules06 Very cute, why did you cover the pot though?

Ha, I'd like to see Chef Cindy go to Dubai for a pampered chef party! I think she needs a vacation anyway (joking) icon_lol.gif I'm afraid to think of what the shipping would be to Dubai... stoneware is heavy (duh... STONE). BUT the spatulas which are so fabulous beyond words isn't that heavy, maybe there are other P.C. products that LizzyB would like. I think I own most of the P.C. catalog...... I should probably try selling it myself rather than getting chefcindy to sell it to me ha ha! icon_lol.gif LizzyB you can also try ebay!

You can also use the wonder mold pan (doll dress). Just cut a bit off the top (narrower part) to make it flatter, then turn it upside down.

I DID IT! I have a bunch of orders for mothers day too icon_smile.gif

So I washed in hot water (no soap) and then took parchment paper which I cut in a circle. Then used oil and brushed in the inside. 350 degrees for about half an hour (or until I remembered that I had them in the oven LOL) Then put the pot in the center and cut out thin wedges all around so that it would tuck into the pot easier. Pour the cake batter in 3/4 full. For a large pot I stuck the flower nail up the bottom. Not necessary for my little 4 in pots. Used the grass tip and buttercream. I have a stock of drop flowers I was able to stick in the grass. Then jammed the cookies in. Works best if you have long sticks that go all the way to the bottom of the pot icon_smile.gif
