does anyone know the reason why some yellow cakes end up tasting a bit like cornbread? it's not the texture, it's the actual taste. i wonder if i need to add more vanilla, or zest? this has happened to me with both the creaming method and the one bowl method.

thanks for any help you can give!

I haven't had the cornbread taste happen, but I just made a yellow cake and decided to add an extra teaspoon of butter flavoring and it really made a big difference in the taste. So maybe try adding in the extra vanilla or zest, or maybe try the butter flavor. If you try the butter flavor, let me know what you think.
