I bought the wilton 3 tier cake & dessert stand... a little disappointed in the quality...but oh well, it was 15 bucks at the hobby lobby 50% off sale. Anyway, I really want to make bigger cakes. Is the wilton tall tier cake stand worth $46? Or is the floating tier set better? Then there is also the crystal clear cake divider set...

So many choices. But you know, I am not in business with cakes just yet. I'm just practicing. So I'd like to know which are best so I don't bleed my husband dry on these supplies and accessories! It can and has gotten expensive when you see no return. (Yet). lol

Personally I would invest in the crystal clear cake divider set. The floating is more limited, but very pretty with a bow and streamers on the backbone. The tall tier stand is nice, but the plates aren't flat so it is harder to transport them and you have to have the core down the center. The crystal clear can be used w/ or w/o pillars. and you can do 1 - 2 up to I believe 6 layers and it is very elegant looking w/ the crystal pillars. You also dont have to put supports in your cake because the pillars sink to the plate and are self supporting. It is also easy to cut w/ no top plate, supports, sprinkles etc. like you use w/ the regular separtor plates. It also works well w/ any color of icing because of the crystal pillars. You are right it does get expensive! Good Luck and I hope this helps you make a decision.

Wow that helps so much, Thanks! I was thinking of the clear cake divider as a last choice b/c I thought it looked more complicated!

Thanks again, I'm going with the clear!

I agree on the clear stand. It's just more versatile, IMO, & more versatitlity means more for your $$ in the long run! thumbs_up.gif

IMHO I would used a single plate cake stand.

I got mine at Pfeil & Holing online

The only drawback from ordering from here is you have to purchase $50 dollars at a time. But I never have a problem doing that.

The Coast Tier Separator System works great and it is easy to assemble. The leggs only attach to one plate. Check them out. They have all kinds of choices here, at very reasonable prices. the shipping depends on what you order but it averaged for me the times I have placed an order with them between 15.00 to 19.00 dollars.
