Anyone every been to Create A Cake on West 14 Mile or Bakers Delite on Dequindre? I found them listed in the Yellow Pages, and they are close to where I will be the next time I'm in Michigan. Thanks for any info!

there is a cake store called lovegroves in schwartz creek, it is not a large store, but stuff is really packed in there, they have a lot of cake decorating stuff and they also teach classes there, theres a small section towards the back that has candy molds ... lots of books and pans cake toppers, toys, etc., .. theres also one out towards port huron ... I believe it is in Goodells township but I might be mistaken, only have been there a few times but that store is immaculately clean and spaced out with tons of candy molds and cake decorating stuff .. they sell pre made gumpaste bouquets and royal icing flowers, etc., .. its in a small plaza I think its called the Victorian plaza .. I highly recommend both of these stores ... Hope this helps anyone!

Create A Cake on 14 Mile in Clawson? She's been out of business for years. icon_cool.gif

Yep, Heinrich's is my home away from home! (You know you're a cake addict when you walk into Heinrich's and they greet you by name, ask how the last cake went, ask what the next one is, how the new techniques are coming...) icon_cool.gif

Which is better for price and selection--Baker's Delite or Heinrich's? I'm in Traverse City but will be in the area on Fri. with only enough time for one stop.

Heinrichs. They have more room, more employees (many of whom work in the industry), bigger stock and can special order more. Baker's Delite is a good store, but I've found that it frequently doesn't have what I need. They are all very nice though, in both places. icon_smile.gif

bob, do you know if Heinrich's can order different sizes/colours of Satin Ice? I got the 5lb container when I was there, but I may want larger or another colour in the future. Have you ever done that through them?

Thanks for being so helpful btw icon_smile.gif

Oh, I HIGHLY recommend Heinrich's!
Big store - lots of inventory - very good prices - friendly, helpful staff.....and I teach there, too!

Hi Carol! icon_wink.gif Glad to finally have you aboard!! icon_biggrin.gif

By the way folks, if any of you have an opportunity to take one of Carol's classes, she is one of the most AWESOME teachers in the universe!! icon_biggrin.gif Her classes are WELL worth it! (Trust me, I know!)icon_wink.gificon_biggrin.gif

Pretty in Pink, I think they can but when I asked Lil the other day she said they weren't really dealing in Satin Ice in colors. I do know that www.intotheoven.com has a great selection and is very reasonable in their prices. I know another girl in my cake club orders from them all the time (she also loves the Satin Ice gumpaste!)

Hope that helps some! icon_lol.gif

Take 696 to Van Dyke South. Go South about a mile to 10 Mile Road and turn left (East on 10 Mile.) Go 1 block to the first street on the right (I think it's Automobile) and that's how you get in -- turn right on Automobile then right at the first street Konczal (or something like that), then right into their parking lot.) When you are on 10 mile, you will drive right by the building before you get to the first street (building is on the South side of the street, right on 10 Mile.) Their phone number is: 586-758-5100. Nicest people EVER in there! icon_wink.gifthumbs_up.gif

It is in Warren. No wait, I think it's Centerline. Yes, it's Centerline. But Warren is right there. You must make the drive -- it's WELL worth it!! Bring the two baby chefs too, they will love it! icon_rolleyes.gificon_biggrin.gif

Not really, everything's over on this side of town. Leave the chefs at home and run away for a day! icon_biggrin.gif The ICES mini classes are this weekend or I'd go out and visit you in Redford. icon_smile.gif

Well, I will get a vacation some day, and I probably will bring my daughter with me, she will call me every 1/2 an hour anyway cuz she misses me...lol

Centerline can't be more than about what, 30 miles from Redford? Maybe I'll have time on Sat to shoot over there after I drop off the cake.......

Bring the kids down/ up whatever it is for a trip to the zoo and be like oh wow we are just a hop skip and a jump away from Heinrichs! How about we stop by and see what they have, maybe if you promise ice cream at the zoo or something they will be excited too!

As you can see I don't have kids of my own, but when my nephew is in town I get to do whatever I want because I bribe like crazy icon_smile.gif

They were AMAZING!! I had a great time with all the classes -- and met some amazing teachers, like the Winbecklers, Nick Lodge, Autumn Carpenter, Sandy Hargrave (who I just love!), Dianne Gruenberg, etc. etc. I can't believe how knowlegable these instructors are and how much fun we had in class. I especially enjoyed Roland and Marsha Winbeckler -- had three classes with them! One thing I did learn though -- next time I won't schedule 14 straight hours of classes! icon_confused.gificon_rolleyes.gif But hey, it was my first ICES event ever!! And well worth it!!

There was even a Cake Central subculture there!! Me and two other gals hung out like the three amigos, having several classes together and all! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif All in all it was great fun!! When are you coming to visit me anyway??? icon_biggrin.gif
