where do you buy your tylose powder? at a couple places I see they only sell 2 oz that does not seem like very much when the receipe calls for 12 tsp. Thanks
Global Sugar Art and Cakes by Sam are two places where I get it. I swear by it...great stuff!!!
I've bought it a couple of places already mentioned, plus my local cake supply store carries it. But, it's all the same small jar. I recently wrote to Nicholas Lodge begging him to carry larger jars. I got no response, but really...none was needed. If more of us wrote asking for this, maybe he would look into it. CMC, which is all Tylose is, is a common thickener in the food industry. Someone who had the buying power of national/international sales could probably buy it in bulk and repackage it in large economy sizes. I really wish someone would. I won't make gumpaste using anything else, and those stingy little jars just don't last very long!

Woo-HOO! Beryls has it in up to one-pound bags. I never shop there. Thanks for the lead!
Now, the big question....
A while back, I got a lead on some of this stuff through an industrial supplier. Not a company that specializes in cake decorating. They sell thickeners for all sorts of applications. It sorta worked, but it was apparent that it was a lower quality than what we get as "Tylose." It wasn't quite right. Has anyody here actually used Beryl's bulk CMC powder? I'd hate to spring for it only to find it's the same stuff I got through the other source.
Chef Rubber sells 500g (that's 1.1 pounds).

I have used Beryl´s CMC and I like it very much! I found it to work the same as any other gum but not as pricey. HTH. Oh, and Beryl´s, excellent customer service!
Yes, I have used Beryl's Tylose, it is good & their service is fantastic. I also like the fact that they sip by mail which is a lot cheaper that UPS.
