Hello,

I have taken 1 set of classes and only paid $35.00 for 4 weeks but I feel like I got what I paid for - not very good. AC MOORE offers the Wilton Method for around the same price for 4 weeks and then there is a proffessional bakery/store that has a six week class for Wilton 1 for 65. They offer all 3 classes plus they ofer classes just on fondant and a $200 class on wedding cakes plus they have special gust speakers and such. I am inclinded to go with the more exspensive because I feel like I will get what I pay for. I would really like to decorate cakes as a side business to make extra money being a stay at home mom. What are your takes on classes at a proffesional bakery versus a place like Michaels - AC Moore etc. Thanks

I paid $25 for each Wilton class. I think what you get out of the Wilton class depends on the instructor. I don't know where you are located, but going with a more specialized place whether it be a cake supply store or a bakery has been better in my personal experience. Plus, you build a rapport with someone you feel like you can call when you have questions. I definitely did not have that experience when I took my Wilton classes from Hobby Lobby.

Was the course that you took for the wilton? Or was it just a one time course for 4 weeks? I took the wilton courses I II and III at Michaels. They are each 4 weeks long, and the first course is just learning the basics. But, of course, you have to learn that first to continue. I thought that it was well worth the money, which is pretty inexpensive compared to others. I don't know what all the more expensive classes or places teach you in their courses either though, maybe you learn alot more I dont' know, so I can't really compare the price. But I was very satisfied with the Michaels wilton courses, we had a great instructor also, so that helps! She gave us her home number so we were able to call her with any problems or questions. Good luck on your decision!

I was extremely lucky with the instructor I had a Michaels. She was wonderful and went way and above to help me learn whatever I asked. We are good friends now too, and I will always appreciate all she has done for me. I just took the 3 - 4 week Wilton Courses (I, II and III) - that is all the clases I have taken.

I am currently taking Wilton Course I. It lasts for 4 weeks...paid $12.50 and it included a book. They're having some special for course II and I'll be paying $7.50 for it...so I've landed some great deals. Our instructor is very nice and knowledgable. She even encourages us to call her any time. I'm very happy, so I highly recommend Wilton, but from what I've read, it really depends on the instructor.

Good Luck.
Angie

Hi there,
Michael's has a special for March. Buy the student kit and the class is free.
